I’ve used my sewing skills to earn money in lots of ways over the years. None of them were lucrative and none of them were quick.
UNTIL I started teaching sewing camps and classes to kids! Teaching 4 camps over that summer bought me a new laptop, but I didn’t stop there.
I kept teaching classes and provided a second income for our family while remaining home with my kids, whom I homeschool, while only working a few days a month, AND while experiencing joy and fulfillment in what I was doing.
And I’m going to teach you how to get started teaching classes so you can do the same in this comprehensive eBook.
“I have been teaching sewing for a few years at a homeschool co-op. Previously, I taught at a 4-H group but have hesitated to teach in my home. I bought the book and am now ready to give it a try. My young adult daughters do a lot of theatre, so a class on making costumes would be perfect, too. The book has a lot of practical information and creative ideas told in Nikki's fun, down-to-earth voice . Get her book if you are at all interested in teaching sewing!” — Julia D.
Just a little bit of the fun we had at sewing class!
FAQ’s
Do I need to be an expert at sewing to teach it? You need some sewing skills, but you do not need to be an expert level sewist in order to teach others. You only need to be the lead learner :)
How much does it cost to start teaching sewing classes? I started teaching with very little money. I used the few machines I already had for my first camp and we used materials from my stash. I added machines and tools as I earned money.
What is the income potential? You can earn as much or as little as you want with the methods described in the book! An extra $1-$2K a month is very doable, or this method can be grown into a full time income.
What if I don’t know anybody to teach? Don’t worry, I promise you can find students! There are sections in the book devoted solely to marketing your classes with specific strategies, ideas, and examples.
