Hello and Welcome to the Making History Podcast! My name is Nikki Schreiner and you may be here because you stumbled upon this podcast by accident, but you may also be here because you follow my other work on YouTube and elsewhere as Pin Cut Sew, where I create sewing and quilting related content like video tutorials and sewing patterns. What you may not know is that I have a years long interest in history as well, and nothing thrills me like a deep dive into a little known historical topic. So what could be better than combining these two loves and taking those deep dives into topics of the sewing and crafting variety. So, this is Making History Podcast, where we will be chatting about the history of our crafts and the people who brought them to life. The people are the best part. And speaking of people, I won't be having these chats alone! Many of these episodes will include a family member or a friend of mine. It's been fun for me to brainstorm which person in my life would enjoy each topic and I'm so excited to have these chats with my loved ones! In this season, we'll be talking about all kinds of different crafty historical topics, like funeral quilts, the evolution of sewing patterns, Colonial cross stitch, Madame Alexander's doll company, crime scene dollhouses, yep you heard that right, puppeteer Jim Hensen (did you know he started the Muppets when he was still a teenager? And that he learned to sew as a kid?) And I have a running list of other topics that I'm so excited to dig into. So, welcome and I truly hope you enjoy Season 1 of Making History.
