DIY Starbucks Barista Costume
This is the last of last year’s Halloween costumes I have to share with you! But don’t worry, I’m working on this year’s costumes (at least mentally, haha), so there will be more through October, I’m sure. I’ve also been asked to make new Thing 1 and Thing 2 costumes for the Grinch ballet, so those might also make an appearance.
Good thing costume sewing is my favorite!
Unlike this Halloween and every other Halloween of her life, Natalie chose a very simple to put together costume last year. She wanted to be a Starbucks barista! The costume was easy, inexpensive and super, super cute. When we went trick or treating, pretty much every adult asked if she’d brought them coffee, haha.

The details:
We ordered the basic green apron from Amazon. It’s the perfect size for what we needed and a great price. We then used iron on transfer paper to apply the logo. You need the one for dark fabrics to make sure the white logo shows up on the green apron. The transfer paper works great, you just print the design onto it with your printer (we had no problem finding the image on Google) and follow the instructions to iron it onto the apron. Super easy. We ordered the plain black visor from Amazon also.
To complete the look, she wore black pants and and a black hoodie that she already had. Since it’s chilly here, she wore black gloves also. She made the name tag out of cardboard and painted it to look like the ones they wear at Starbucks.
We thought it would be fun if her treat bag fit the costume, so I asked at my Starbucks if we could have one of the brown bags with their logo on it. They gladly handed one over when I told them what it was for! Natalie was worried the heavy candy would tear the bag, so she used clear packing tape to reinforce the whole thing and that did the trick.
Don’t stress, make a plan!
