Fast and Easy Improv Quilted Table Runner
Last year I ordered a Ruby Star Society scrap bag and it had the cutest line of Christmas fabrics inside! These scrap bags are always a surprise, so I didn’t know it would be Christmasy this time, but I knew I wanted to make some cute holiday decor with those strips of fabric.
As you know if you follow me over on YouTube, I did some Christmas sewing this summer and one of the tutorials I created, using my Ruby Star Christmas prints (the line is called Jolly Darlings), was a super fun table runner. I LOVE how this turned out.
Of course, this table runner does not need to be Christmas fabrics, you can make one with any fabrics you want, or even just scraps. The key, I think is to pick the little corner fabrics to be contrasty enough with the larger rectangles as to really stand out.
But, without further ado, here is the video tutorial for the table runner!
Improv Quilted Table Runner Video Tutorial
If you’re new to quilting, a table runner is such a great first project because the entire quilt making process is the same as any other quilt, but on a small scale, making it much easier to handle. If you need help with the backing, quilting, or binding processes, my oversized hot pad tutorial on YouTube is very thorough for every step, or you can check out the technique-specific links below:

I hope you enjoy! I’m really looking forward to pulling this out at Christmastime! Enough time will have passed without seeing it that I think I’ll be surprised how fun it is all over again, haha! I’m digging this idea of Christmas sewing long before the season starts. It’s let me get to some of the sewing I usually run out of time for come December. If you’d like more Christmas sewing inspo, you can find my Christmas playlist here.
Cheers :)
