Read MoreI’ve received and purchased a few new-to-me sewing tools in the past few months and I’m always eager to share them with y’all! A few of these were on my Christmas wish list, one my mom gave me, and the other I bought with my birthday money last month. All four are big winners and have already been great additions to my sewing room, so perhaps these are great things to add to your sewing wish list!
Read MoreMost of the time, when I go to the fabric store for thread, I know exactly where to go and which thread type and color I’m looking for, without regard to the other four sections of sewing thread choices, which I normally don’t even give a second glance.
Read MoreI found myself needed a few more pin cushions for sewing classes and decided to try making some with a few mason jars I had in the cupboard already. The fun thing about making pin cushions out of jars is that they can hold sewing accessories safely in the jar portion and become a travel sewing kit!
Today I’ll show you how to make an easy pin cushion out of any size jar, and you don’t even need a sewing machine! Yep, this is a hot glue project, with a tiny bit of hand sewing. Keep reading for the step by step mason jar pin cushion instructions with all of photos you need to make this simple project.
Read MoreI’m very excited to introduce you to my new sewing machine! Read (or watch) on to find out why I decided to buy a new sewing machine, how I landed on the Janome I ended up with, and some new tips for your own sewing machine shopping.

Read MoreHey, friends! I asked for a few new little sewing tools for Christmas and my husband came through and put some of them in my Christmas stocking. I took some time yesterday to film a video describing them and demonstrating these five new-to-me sewing notions and today I’ll share them here too.
If you’re looking for a few new toys to add to your sewing room, maybe this will give you some ideas and I bet they’re things you may not already have. There are always more sewing notions to check out, but it’s hard to know if they’re really be useful, or if you’re better off sticking with your tried and true methods, so I’ve tried these things, and while there are a few I already love, there are a couple more that they jury is still out on.
Read MoreI made you something! Well, I made me something and then immediately wanted to share it with you. I don’t know about you, but I make changes and alterations to every single pattern I sew. But, unfortunately, I rarely write them down! I think I’ll remember what I did differently, or what I would do differently next time I sew the same pattern, but of course, I don’t.
Sometimes I scribble a note on the pattern envelope, but I wanted to create something cute and functional that I could print out, keep a stack of in my pattern draw, and make notes on as soon as I finished and put away a pattern.
Read MoreI have gotten asked so many times for advice on buying your first sewing machine that I should probably save my answer in a note or something so I can copy and paste it, ha!

Read MoreChristmas is coming like a freight train! It feels that way to me every year, but this year, since we’re being encouraged to shop earlier than usual, I feel like we’re breezing past the Fall holidays and going straight into Christmas.
Like many married couples, our custom is to give each other a wishlist, making it easy to buy what the other wants. My wishlist lives on Amazon and it’s called Nikki’s Christmas wishes (can’t make it much easier than that.) I update this list each year around this time and I’m always excited to see which things he chooses! Of course, he always adds a few surprises, which is fun too.
Read MoreIf you’ve been following along with me here or on Instagram for a length of time, you’ll have noticed how many of my fabrics I get from Hobby Lobby. I am lucky to live very near to one currently, which hasn’t always been the case for me, and may not be in the future, but I’m thankful for it now! Not only is JoAnn not as conveniently located for me, I almost always leave there frustrated, so I rarely ever go. Hobby Lobby, on the other hand, I have had great success with for fabric shopping! Hobby Lobby sells such nice fabrics and I’m willing to bet they have way variety than you think!
Read MoreIf you’ve been sewing for awhile and don’t already own a serger, you may have wondered, “what the heck is a serger and do I really need one?” Also known as an overlocker, a serger is a special sewing machine that finishes raw edges of fabric neatly, to put it very basically.
