New Makes Week! #1
I am so behind on sharing my recent makes!! I make mostly cake, not a lot of frosting, so everything I’ve made lately has been highly functional and are already in the regular rotation in my daily wardrobe.
Instead of sharing one big post with all of them (how I am still short on time, even under quarantine?), I’m going to share one per day! Fun!

Today’s new make is a hacked version of New Look 6468. I wanted a sleeveless top out of a beautiful embroidered cotton from Hobby Lobby. If you want all my secrets for successful fabric shopping at Hobby Lobby, click here! That has been one of my most popular recent posts, so there must be a lot of stuff most people didn’t know.
I liked the unique button placket on this dress pattern, but I wanted a top, so I adapted the bodice portion to be a shirt instead. I took the time to make a muslin (as always!) and did need a full bust adjustment. On button fronts, it’s important to get the fit right, so you avoid gaping, which is a huge frustration for bustier ready-to-wear shoppers, I know.
I love how this top turned out. In the photo below, I paired it with my favorite linen jacket I made last year out of a 100% linen tablecloth in the Target clearance aisle. Proof that fabric can be found anywhere, ha!
That’s it for today’s short post! I’ll post the next one tomorrow. I’m also participating in Me Made May over on Instagram, so if you’re doing that too, let me know so I can follow!
Cheers :)
